Needle Felting Workshop with Melanie Lo

SUNDAY, 23 JUNE, 2024, 4-7pm

This workshop is an introduction to needle felting, where you will be making your very own personalized cat mobile. All required materials will be provided and participants will take home their mobile, along with a felting pad and a felting needle for future projects.

Needle felting is a subtype of the broader craft of felting. Unlike wet felting, where wool fibres are manipulated using water and soap, needle felting is a dry technique that utilizes special notched needles to sculpt the material. Wool as a material is a natural and renewable resource that biodegrades in soil over time, and can be made into both two and three-dimensional artworks, making needle felting increasingly popular for its simplicity as well as its versatility.

This workshop will be led by Melanie Lo (she/her) a co-creator of @lazi.sunday.co and @plouf.resin. She always seeks to infuse an element of whimsy into our everyday living environments. She began her journey as a creator and collector of mobiles, ornaments, trinkets, garlands, and whatever fantastically fun nonsense she can find. Her pursuit through her work to reflecting the desire to construct that which brings us joy.
